Rebuilding Begins For CVS Stores Damaged During Unrest
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Officials with CVS announce they will begin construction on two stores damaged during the unrest in Baltimore in April.
Demolition work is scheduled to begin Friday in the 2500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue where a fire tore through the building as it was targeted by looters. It is scheduled to reopen by the end of the year.
Officials say they are also renovating a CVS store located in the 2500 block of West Franklin Street. The store is scheduled to reopen this fall.
"CVS/pharmacy is committed to serving the Baltimore community and we look forward to bringing back our two stores better than ever," said Helena Foulkes, President of CVS/pharmacy. "When these stores reopen, we will be providing our customers and patients an enhanced selection of groceries and healthy food options along with the quality pharmacy care they have come to depend upon from CVS/pharmacy."
Employees of the two locations have been serving customers at other stores in Baltimore, officials said. They are expected to welcome their customers back once they reopen.
