Excited Ravens Fans Pack M&T Bank Stadium For Home Preseason Opener
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- For the first time since they became Super Bowl champions, the Ravens take the field at M&T Bank Stadium.
And Baltimore fans--hungry for football to come back to Charm City--are back at it, too.
Kai Jackson has the surge of excitement for the season to come.
Fans made this contest seem like a regular season game.
The Ravens Nation is back in session.
Kai Jackson: "Do you have a favorite Raven?"
Malachi Phoenix: "Yes. Lardarius Webb."
The Super Bowl XLVII champs had their first home preseason game, and fans are the 12th man on the sidelines, cheering for their team.
"What a great crowd down here," said Maynard Edwards. "Ravens fans are out in force, even in the preseason."
There's no preseason for tailgating. Hungry fans don't want practice, they want perfection.
"Very excited," a woman showing her purple pride said. "I'm happy that it's back."
The team made a number of improvements to the stadium they believe fans will notice. The lower concourse now has a brick facade that covers the plain concrete underneath.
There's also purple accent lighting and digital signs at concession stands. And the team says there are new, and greater, food choices.
Ravens fans are excited about the first home preseason game, but things are a little different this year.
You can't bring in covered containers. Anything you bring into the stadium has to be in a clear container and inspected.
"We are extremely excited. We are just here to cheer on our Super Bowl champions and we believe we're going to make it again this year," said Monique Sullivan.
Fans are ready for the first regular season game. That takes place Thursday, Sept. 5 at Denver against the Broncos.
The Ravens have also added four LED hi-definition video boards to show fans the stats inside the stadium.
