Ravens Training Camp | QB Lamar Jackson Struggles On First Day, Finishes Strong
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WJZ) -- Football season is back!!! The Baltimore Ravens training camp began Thursday.
Plenty of lucky fans were on hand in Owings Mills to see the Ravens hit the field for the first time.
The weather Thursday morning was beautiful as the team welcomed several new veterans like Mark Ingram and Earl Thomas and said goodbye to some familiar faces, like of course, Joe Flacco.
The team hit the field with 90 players on the roster, a third of whom are rookies.
In front of 2,000 fans, players showed their stuff.
"I think it pumps the guys up. You know, a guy goes and makes a great catch or something like that and the fans go crazy," Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh said. "How could it not fuel you, right?"
Ravens defensive back Cyrus Jones agreed.
"It makes the atmosphere a little more fun and engaging," he said. "Having the fans out here I think is cool."
Early reports are that quarterback Lamar Jackson struggled a bit to start practice, but did finish strong.
Rookie wide receiver Marcus "Hollywood" Brown isn't able to practice just yet but fans know who he is and can't wait to see him play.
Players said they're determined to live up to fan's expectations going into the season.
"Just be smart, physical, tough, blue collar defense and being humble," linebacker Patrick Onwuasor said. "The same thing for Baltimore; we're never going to back down for anybody. We're going to do what we gotta do."
