Ravens Training Camp: McKinnie Still Missing, Oher Takes Over As Starting Left Tackle
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Another hot day in Owings Mills for the second day of Ravens training camp.
Sports Director Mark Viviano has more.
Two days into Ravens training camp and still no sign of starting offensive lineman Bryant McKinnie. The team says they have very little information other than being told McKinnie's dealing with a personal issue.
He's expected to be the starting left tackle. But in McKinnie's absence, the job goes to Michael Oher.
Coach John Harbaugh says Oher is the Ravens left tackle until further notice. He was the starter on the right side last season, has played both sides, and the Ravens believe he is capable of holding down the critical left spot.
Oher said he has spoken with his absent teammate, McKinnie.
"I just told him to take his time," Oher said. "We'll be here if he needs us and take care with anything he has going. I'm sure he'll get everything squared away and he seems positive. Like I told him, 'Take your time and we'll be here for you'."
McKinnie is being fined $30,000 for each day of training camp he misses.
Defensive back Ladarius Webb was absent from Friday's workout for personal reasons. Webb's absence was excused and he's expected back on the field in Owings Mills on Saturday.
