Ravens Sport Halloween Gear In Goodwill Job Training Benefit
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Trading pigskin for pumpkins. After a tough loss on the road, the Ravens are getting into the Halloween spirit—and giving back at the same time.
Jessica Kartalija reports some of Baltimore's favorite Ravens are forgoing their uniforms ahead of Halloween.
"It's a great event for a great mission and our mission is to help people get jobs on the road to self-sufficiency," said Lisa Rusyniak, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries Chesapeake.
The event at Dave and Busters is to raise money to help Marylanders with special needs get job training through Goodwill.
"You couldn't ask for a better evening, especially on an off day after a tough road game, so it's nice to do something fun and enjoy the Halloween spirit," said Justin Tucker.
Tucker, and his fiancée, Amanda, dressed as Donny and Sandy from "Grease."
"It's a great opportunity for us to get together outside of the facilities for one thing and interact with fans and partygoers and the whole thing is for a really good cause, supporting the Goodwill in the Chesapeake area," Tucker said.
Dennis Pitta, still in a wheelchair after hip surgery, signed autographs.
He came dressed as "a hospital patient--which is somewhat appropriate, given my circumstance. I am a month away from my surgery and still recovering," Pitta said.
The costume contest got a few laughs, and a great time was had by all.
"Something we always look forward to, being able to have a little fun, dress up for Halloween and support a great cause and reach out to the public and the fans is awesome," Pitta said.
Last year the organization helped 30,000 Marylanders get job training.
