Ravens Safety Ed Reed Donates Thanksgiving Meals To SEED School
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—In addition to getting ready for the game, many Ravens are also giving back to the community this holiday season.
Jessica Kartalija reports from a school where Ravens star Ed Reed is handing out Thanksgiving meals.
Ravens safety Ed Reed trades the pigskin for a butterball.
"To be in the position that I am, I'm supposed to do this," Reed said.
At the SEED School in Southwest Baltimore, Reed's Eye of the Hurricane foundation handed out more than 300 turkeys to students and families.
"It was a really nice thing to do," said one male student. "He's a football player. He's working out all day. He didn't have to do this for me. Just love it."
"I actually think it's a great opportunity for us to bring our families together. And I want to thank Ed Reed for helping our community," a female student said.
It's only fitting that Reed would come to the SEED School. Art and Pat Modell gave a lot of time and donations to help provide these underprivileged children with a tuition-free education.
"I think it's so nice," said a female student. "He's taking his time to give us some food, and some people don't even have none."
The SEED School is a boarding school. It currently has an enrollment of more than 300 students, grades 6 through 12.
"Our goal is to make sure everybody in Baltimore that don't have something to eat, you know, should get some," Reed said.
Reed will also deliver turkeys at two other Baltimore City schools.
