Ravens Released Devin Hester, Who Just Never Got On Track

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Baltimore Ravens released kick returner Devin Hester yesterday after the four-time Pro Bowl star struggled in his first season with the team.

Hester was signed as a free agent following the offseason.

He returned only 25 punts and fumbled four times and often let the ball drop instead of making a fair catch.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh attributed Hester's early season struggle to injuries, but the one-time standout returner never showed the form that made him a star with Chicago and Atlanta.

Hester often let the ball drop instead of making a fair catch. He averaged 7.2 yards per punt return, taking only two more than 20 yards the entire season.

After he failed to field a punt early in Monday night's game against New England, the ball was down at the 1-yard line and the Patriots then had the opportunity to get a safety on the next play.

Could that have been the last straw? What do you think of Hester being cut?
