Ravens Rank In Top 10 For ESPN's Ultimate NFL Standings
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Thanks to affordable tickets and one of the NFL's best coaches and rosters, the Ravens ranked in the top quarter of all teams in the 2016 Ultimate Standings. ESPN has been asking fans to vote on their favorite teams for the past 13 years, and then they rank them, all 122 sports franchises, from top to bottom.
Ravens Rankings:
Overall: 26
Title track: 6
Ownership: 12
Coaching: 10
Players: 22
The Ravens are just one of four NFL franchises to win multiple Super Bowl titles since 2000, and that's in largely due to coach John Harbaugh (ranked 10th overall).
"In Ozzie We Trust" is a phrase commonly muttered when the NFL draft rolls around. But even more often than that, Ravens fans chant "In Tucker We Trust," in honor of the clinch kicker that signed an epic four-year deal. And although quite a few Ravens are currently injured or on IR, there are still plenty of rookies and veterans bleeding purple and black all over the field.
Fan relations: 28
Affordability: 22
Stadium experience: 27
Bang for the buck: 90
The Ravens excel in affordability and fan relations, contributing to the overall "bang for the buck" score. The Ravens have been pretty creative with their fan outreach this season (and offseason).
Players have popped up at toll booths, distributed prepaid gift cards for gas at a convenience store, delivered gifts to newborns and their families in the nursery unit of a hospital and hosted a pizza party at a firehouse for first responders. Quarterback Joe Flacco, wide receiver Steve Smith and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley snuck up behind fans at a Ravens festival and photo-bombed them. Smith even greeted season-ticket holders at the team facility in full uniform.
