Ravens Injuries Causing Trouble, Feeling All Too Familiar
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Baltimore Ravens experienced a 5-11 season last year that left fans with a foul taste in their mouths. Many players returned this season with new hope after being riddled with injuries, but 2016 is starting to shape up to have it's own sour taste for fans and players alike.
Baltimore, now 3-2, played with a patchwork offensive line last Sunday and looked out of sync for much of the game.
Rookie left tackle Ronnie Stanley missed his second straight week with a foot injury. Alex Lewis, who was out against Oakland with a concussion, moved into the role of left tackle, but was shaken up a few times during the game.
Right tackle Rick Wagner left the game with an injured thigh in the third quarter, leaving Joe Flacco vulnerable and unprotected.
Steve Smith also left the game with an ankle injury with 2:52 remaining in the first quarter and did not return.
Ravens starting CB Shareece Wright, who has been dealing with back spasms, was inactive for the game. Sheldon Price took his spot but suffered a hamstring injury in the second quarter.
As of Wednesday this week, seven Ravens did not practice: WR Steve Smith (ankle), three starting OL (Ronnie Stanley, Rick Wagner and Marshal Yanda), ILB C.J. Mosley (hamstring), OLBs Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil.
The Ravens face the NY Giants next week and they have to fill the holes before taking the field.
