Rat Eradication Effort Begins In Towson Area
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County officials have begun an effort to rid the Towson area of rats.
Lionel Van Dommelen, the county's chief of code inspection and enforcement, says sweep teams began hitting the streets Monday and will be issuing tickets to residents for behaviors that attract rats. Exterminators are also working to get rid of the rats themselves.
The Baltimore Sun reports the effort is under way in Ridgeleigh, Hillendale, Knettishall, Ridgely Oaks, Loch Raven Village, Towson Manor Village and parts of Towson Park.
Van Dommelen says the last eradication took place two summers ago.
