Rain Prompts Flood Watch In The Area
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Prince William County fire officials say heavy rains are flooding some roads in the county.
Fire officials say volunteer firefighters helped move three passengers from their van in Nokesville after it got stuck in
rising waters Sunday afternoon. Battalion Chief Joe Robertson says motorists should not drive through any moving water because as little as a foot of water can move most cars off the road.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning through late Sunday for small streams in the Washington area because of the storm system. The weather service says runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels in small creeks and streams as well as ponding of water in low-lying spots and poor drainage areas.
