Rain Causes Widespread Flooding And Damage Across Maryland
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Much of the water has receded but there is a great deal of damage left behind.
Kai Jackson has more.
The Baltimore region is still nursing its wounds after being hammered Wednesday by torrential rain that showed no mercy and caused widespread damage. In the Cockeysville area, the Western Run flooded vehicles.
"It's pretty much of a mess," said Paul Seymer, a flood victim.
Water washed out roads around the area. Some drivers took a risk and paid the price, and rescue crews had their hands full. Cromwell Bridge Road in Towson was a victim of the rain. Streams and creeks were swollen well beyond their banks.
Mud covers the floor inside the side-street Cafe Cockeysville as if it were carpet. Owner Ozzie Mehdizadeh says his business is ruined.
"I'm not sure how we're going to do this," said Mehdizadeh.
In Howard County, historic Ellicott City was flooded, water so powerful, it weakened a wall which fell on some cars.
Anne Arundel County Police were called to the 400-block of Riverside Drive where a man died, a victim of a drowning. They are still investigating this incident.
