Race Will Close Down Fort McHenry Tunnel Tube
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Runners will get the chance to jog under Baltimore's harbor this weekend as part of an annual charity race that uses one tube of the Fort McHenry Tunnel.
The fifth annual Fort McHenry Tunnel 5K Run and Walk will be held Sunday morning, and runners will go through the tunnel twice to complete the course.
The race is sponsored by the Maryland Transportation Authority and is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Maryland.
Runners will go through one of the tunnel's four tubes, which will be closed from approximately 7 p.m. Saturday until noon on Sunday. Three other tubes will remain open to traffic.
The race starts at 9 a.m. Sunday.
