Purple Playoffs Caravan Gets Fans Amped For Duel In Denver
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A huge Purple Friday for the fans! The Ravens caravan hit even more spots to gear up for the big game.
Meghan McCorkell has more on the fans' purple pride.
That traveling pep rally made 14 stops across the region Friday, each one more packed than the one before it.
Playoff fever is spreading fast in schools and even supermarkets.
You don't think we're Superbowl bound? We don't want to hear about it.
"I say the Ravens are going to beat them 24-14. Up in Denver, all the way baby, all the way," said one fan.
"Purple is the way to go, we are going to bust some Broncos!" said another.
"We're gonna take it to Denver. We're going to go across country. We're going to go in the cold, in the snow and beat them in their own stadium to go to the AFC championship next week," said one man.
"Its a lot of fun to travel around, see all the hype in the city. The city is buzzing, so it just can't get any better than this," said one man.
The duel in Denver has Ravens fans bringing out lucky charms, including this Superbowl championship sweatshirt.
"I just brought it out tonight. I want everyone to rub it so they get luck!" said one fan.
"Every time we wear the hats we win. Now if we don't wear them, they're not going to win. That's why we have the hats on today," said Ravens fan Dawn Merriken.
Dundalk resident Rose Anders has three lucky charms, her triplet sons!
"They really love everything about the Ravens. Every Sunday they're in their gear. Even now that it's on Saturdays, they love everything," said Anders.
This season is special as we say goodbye to number 52.
"We want to go all the way for our Ray Lewis and our Ravens this year," said a fan.
In downtown Baltimore, love for Ray Lewis is larger than life! Ray's signature dance is projected in neon lights on the side of the Marriott Waterfront Hotel.
It's all part of a very purple skyline!
Even the Ravens themselves got a purple send-off. Water lit with purple lights drenched the plane as it left Baltimore.
"I'd rather be a Ravens fan than any other fan right now," said Jamie Meyers.
Whether your a big cheerleader or a tiny one, it's a great time to be a Ravens fan.
"Yeah, he thinks we're going to the Superbowl. Yeah, he knows we're going to the Superbowl," said fan Jamie Meyers about his young son.
The mayors of Denver and Baltimore have placed a bet on the big game. If Denver wins, Mayor Rawlings-Blake has agreed to light up the Washington Monument in orange and blue. When the Ravens win, the mayor of Denver has agreed to do Ray Lewis' famous dance.
