Proposed MARC Changes Would Alter W.V. Service
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland Transit Administration is proposing changes to the Brunswick Line for MARC commuter train riders.
The changes would mostly affect those who use train stations in West Virginia and Montgomery County.
MARC would continue to run three westbound trains from Washington to Martinsburg, W.Va. But the West Virginia stops would be cut from the super-express train that leaves Union Station at 4:55 p.m.
Instead, MARC would offer westbound West Virginia riders an earlier departure, at 4:15 p.m.
MTA says the changes would allow it to increase service in Montgomery County.
The agency is taking public comment on the proposal. MTA also plans to hold public meetings on the plan May 19 in Charles Town, W.Va.; May 22 in Rockville; and May 23 in Frederick.
