Princeton Wins 7th Straight, Beats Towson 75-65
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Ian Hummer scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as Princeton defeated Towson 75-65 on Wednesday for its seventh consecutive victory.
Princeton (9-3) shot 50 percent from the floor (16 of 32) in the opening half and led 38-35 at halftime.
A 3-pointer from Brian Morris pulled Towson within one, 41-40, with 18:32 remaining, but Towson failed to make a field goal in the next 9:27.
The drought allowed Princeton to build a 10-point lead with 9:06 left.
Patrick Saunders led Princeton with 15 points and Kareem Maddox and Douglas Davis scored 14 apiece. Dan Mavraides added 10 points.
Towson (3-7) was led by Isaiah Philmore, who scored 18 points.
Braxton Dupree added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Princeton outrebounded Towson 40-23 and posted a 46-14 scoring advantage in the paint. Princeton also had a 20-2 edge in second-chance points.
