Prince George's Police Chief's Cars Vandalized
LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- A spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department says two cars used by the police chief have been vandalized in recent weeks.
Maj. Andy Ellis says Police Chief Roberto Hylton's cars were shot with a pellet gun in October while parked in his marked spots at police headquarters in Palmer Park. He says a Crown Victoria was shot in the rear window and in a rear quarter panel, and an Impala was shot in a passenger door.
Hylton could be replaced as chief by Rushern Baker, who is being sworn in Monday as county executive.
Two people who represent organizations that support retaining Hylton say they suspect the vandalism is retaliation for what they say are the chief's efforts to hold officers accountable for misconduct.
