Prince George's County Sees 14th Homicide Of 2011

SUITLAND, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say they are investigating their 14th homicide of the year.

Police spokesman Cpl. Henry Tippett says officers were called to the 3500-block of Terrace Drive in Suitland about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. He says responding officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in a cul-de-sac outside an apartment complex.

The man, identified as Douglas Hodge Jordan Jr., 22, of Washington, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The killing comes about a week after the county's last homicide. Police have attempted to curb the violence by adding extra county, state and municipal officers to the areas where the homicides occurred. Federal agents also have been embedded in the homicide unit.
