Prince George's Co. Sheriff's Deputy Fatally Shoots Man
RIVERDALE, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County authorities say a sheriff's deputy has shot and killed a man in Riverdale while trying to serve a temporary peace order inside the home.
The sheriff's office says the shooting happened Wednesday night when a man appeared from the back of the home and displayed a firearm.
The deputy then fired at least one shot, and the 39-year-old man later died at a hospital.
The deputy's name was not released, but he's been placed on administrative leave -- which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
It wasn't immediately clear for whom the peace order was intended.
