Prince George's Co. Marks 12th Homicide Of The New Year
NEW CARROLLTON, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police are identifying a New Carrollton man they say was fatally shot while trying to break into a home, marking the 12th homicide in the county this year.
Police say officers responding to a report of a man breaking into a home in the 7400-block of Riverdale Road in New Carrollton on Tuesday evening found Clyde Antwone Rosevelt Howard, 30, in front of the home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police believe Howard, who lived a few blocks away, broke out a window in the front door and was trying to get in to the home when a resident of the home shot him. Maj. Andy Ellis says the incident appears to be a case of self-defense.
Police have made arrests in at least three of the cases.
