Prince George's Co. Focuses Efforts To Attract FBI
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County is launching a task force and hiring a lobbyist to focus efforts on bringing the FBI headquarters to the county.
The General Services Administration has been authorized to pursue a private sector lease for a new FBI headquarters and County Executive Rushern Baker says an inter-agency task force will analyze possible sites. The county has also hired the Holland and Knight firm to lobby the federal government on the county's behalf.
The FBI is expected to seek a high-security campus near Metro and the Capital Beltway for as many as 11,000 workers. A new headquarters could cost $1.2 billion and would not be completed until 2020 at the earliest, but site selection could begin this year.
