Pride Of Baltimore Returns Home After Touring The East Coast And Canada
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- The Pride of Baltimore II is back home Friday night. It pulled into port after months at sea on a special promotional tour.
Jessica Kartalija has more on the celebration to welcome the Pride.
The captain and his crew of 11 arrived just before 5 p.m.
Our ship has come in.
"I've read all about this boat and I'm just so happy to see it," said one person.
"I was at the Gallery and I saw the sails. And so, I had to come see it because I love old ships," said another.
After five months at sea, the Pride of Baltimore sailed home to the Inner Harbor. It made more than 9,000 stops.
The Pride traveled throughout the East Coast and Canada promoting the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the penning of the Star-Spangled Banner here in Baltimore.
"It's always a pleasure to be back here at the finger piers. This is where the ship has spent most of its early life and it passes around the Harbor these days. But this is really home, and even specific to Baltimore, the finger piers are home," said one person.
The captain tells WJZ with all of those stops, at least 50,000 people up and down the East Coast and Canada had a chance to tour the Pride of Baltimore.
