President Obama Grants Md. Federal Aid For June 29 Derecho Recovery
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—President Barack Obama declared a major disaster for Maryland, following the derecho storm on June 29.
Federal aid will be made available for the state to help with local recovery efforts in Baltimore City, along with Calvert, Charles, Kent, Montgomery and Saint Mary's counties.
Straight-line winds knocked down trees and knocked out power to more than 700,000 customers in Maryland. Many people spent up to a week without electricity.
