Power restored at Johns Hopkins Hospital's East Baltimore campus after outage
BALTIMORE -- Power has been restored at Johns Hopkins Hospital East Baltimore campus after the medical center experienced an outage Friday night.
The East Baltimore campus was using generators while staff was urged to plug life-saving equipment into red outlets, according to WJZ media partner The Baltimore Banner. The hospital's incident command had also been activated.
Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) say they dispatched their crews after the outage began around 7 p.m. Power was then restored by 9:30 p.m.
"We appreciate the efforts of our staff members to prioritize patient safety throughout the outage, and are grateful for the swift response of Baltimore Gas and Electric crews," Lisa Burgunder, Director of Hospital Communications said.
The cause of the outage is unknown.
