Power Outage Halts Some Service On MARC Penn Line; O's & Yankees Affected By Amtrak Disruption
WASHINGTON (WJZ/AP) -- The Maryland Transit Administration says service on a portion of the MARC Penn Line has been suspended due to a power outage.
The administration said early Monday that there is no service north of Martin State Airport until further notice.
That means there is no service to Perryville, Aberdeen and Edgewood.
Trains are operating normally from the airport to Baltimore and Washington.
Downed overhead wires south of Aberdeen affected Amtrak trains as well.
Amtrak says service was suspended between Washington and Wilmington, Del., and that reportedly affected the Yankees and Orioles.
The Bronx Bombers were headed northbound on their Amtrak train from Baltimore when service was interrupted.
The team had to transfer to buses for the rest of their trip. The Orioles reportedly also had to make alternative arrangements.
The delay prompted the Yankees to cancel all workout activities and media availabilities planned for Yankee Stadium Tuesday.
Two of the three tracks are now open with repairs continuing to the remaining track.
Passengers should expect minimal delays as trains travel between Baltimore and Wilmington.
