Port Of Baltimore Receiving Cargo From N.Y., N.J. In Sandy Aftermath
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- The Port of Baltimore is receiving cargo that was originally designated for The Port of New York/New Jersey, which is recovering from a hard hit from Superstorm Sandy.
"We are receiving some of the diverted cargo from The Port of New York/New Jersey," said Richard Scher, Port of Baltimore. "It's a combination of containers and automobiles. As soon as the challenges facing The Port of New York/New Jersey are resolved, the cargo will go back to New York/New Jersey. In the meantime, we are happy to help out the international cargo supply chain."
New York and New Jersey are still reeling from the superstorm.
In New Jersey, more than a million and a half people are still without power.
