Unidentified Hit-And-Run Victim Could Be Missing Pasadena Woman
PASADENA, Md. (WJZ) --- A woman's body is found off the side of the road in Pasadena. Now police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver that hit her and took off.
Monique Griego has the latest from police on the investigation.
As of right now, the victim has yet to be identified. It's not clear how long her body had been there.
Anne Arundel County police search for clues in the woods off Bayside Beach Road and Belhaven Avenue after a passerby finds a woman's body in the brush.
Police believe the victim, who hasn't been identified, was hit by a car. The driver didn't stop.
"I was walking up the street handing out flyers to all the neighbors . And that's when I saw somebody had driven passed said they found a body on the side of the road," said Taylor Mills, lives nearby.
Taylor Mills immediately thought the woman may be his missing girlfriend. Samantha Kreppel, 20, disappeared Sunday while walking home along this same stretch of road.
Mills has spent the past few days canvassing the neighborhood with flyers.
"Hard to sleep. I don't know what to think half the time. I'm just hoping it's not her," said Mills.
Investigators haven't confirmed or denied whether Kreppel is the victim. Right now, they're trying to track down the car they believe is connected to the hit-and-run.
Evidence points to a 1982-1985 Mercedes 300, 400 or 500 series passenger car. It may have damage to the right front end, hood, fender and glass damage.
Neighbors tell WJZ this isn't the first time someone has been hit and killed while walking along this road. They say it's very dangerous.
"I'm not surprised. It's pretty dangerous out here because they speed both ways," a man said.
As neighbors wait to find out the woman's identity, they're struggling to understand how someone could hit a person and leave them to die.
"It's the difference between an accident and murder," said Jack Charron, neighbor. "The 10 minutes or 15 minutes it takes someone else to find that person could make the difference of that person living or dying."
Again, police have not identified the victim.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them. You may be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
