Police: Suspect Shot Trying To Run Down Sheriff
ROCK HALL, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a home invasion suspect is recovering at Shock Trauma after he was shot while trying to run down Kent County's sheriff, who was trying to block his escape route.
Authorities say three men fired a shotgun and tried to kick down a door as they broke into a Chestertown home. The men then hit one resident and bound his wife before ransacking the house and fleeing.
Later, deputies responding to a call involving a possible suspect pursued a truck and Sheriff John Price parked his cruiser across part of an intersection, signaling for the driver to stop. Police say he fired at the truck as it came at him, striking the driver in the arm. Two other suspects are in custody.
