Police Seek Smartphone Search In U.Va. Slaying
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- Police in Charlottesville are seeking e-mails and text messages a University of Virginia lacrosse player sent to another student he is accused of killing.
The Daily Progress reported Thursday that police have requested a search of George Huguely's smartphone for correspondence mentioning Yeardley Love, who was also a lacrosse player at U.Va.
The request was contained in an affidavit related to a search warrant.
Huguely is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend. The 22-year-old from Cockeysville, Md., was found dead in her off-campus apartment May 3.
Investigators have already searched Huguely's and Love's computers and found fragments of correspondence.
Huguely has a Jan. 21 preliminary court hearing.
