Police: Security Guard Fired Gun, Was Stabbed While Confronting Shoplifter Outside Prince George's County Store
FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (AP) — Police in Maryland say that a security guard fired his gun and was stabbed after confronting a possible shoplifter.
The Washington Post reports that the incident occurred Sunday evening in the Washington suburb of Fort Washington.
Prince George's County police said the guard's wound was in his upper body. His condition was unclear.
The encounter began inside a supermarket when the guard confronted a man suspected of shoplifting.
A struggle ensued and continued into the parking lot.
Police said the guard fired his gun and that the other man suffered an unspecified injury.
Both were taken to a hospital.
