Police Search For Suspect Wanted For A Series Of Store Robberies
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It has police worried, and so they're asking for the public's help to capture a serial robbery suspect.
Alex DeMetrick reports that plea comes as police keep their own tactics a secret.
Made for convenience, 7-Eleven and Royal Farms stores are the targets of choice for a robbery suspect.
Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect during the past two weeks, when as many as four stores were robbed at gunpoint.
He pulled each job the same way.
"He strikes these convenience stores during off-peak hours. He'll enter the store, get back behind the counter, take an undisclosed amount of money, and point a handgun at clerks," said Anthony Guglielmi, Baltimore City Police spokesman.
The police will not release any other information. Robbed stores are not being identified, except that they are somewhere in the northwest, northern and northeastern police districts.
Undercover operations are in place at stores in that area, but it's an area roughly half the size of Baltimore.
The robber hasn't hurt anyone, but police say the potential is there, and that's more than enough reason for concern.
"He is considered armed and dangerous. He exhibits potentially violent behavior," said Guglielmi.
The suspect is believed to be between 25 and 30, around six feet and between 160 and 200 pounds.
Police are asking anyone with information about this suspect to call 911.
