Police Search For Out-Of-Control Drivers Caught In Viral Video
GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) -- Out of control drivers at a popular car show at Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie are now in the cross-hairs of police.
Dozens of drivers were caught on tape doing burn outs and crossing lanes.
Gigi Barnett has more on the search for those drivers.
An anonymous tipster alerted WJZ to the video. We turned it over to the police and now the search for drivers in underway.
"It's something we take extremely serious and it's something we won't tolerate, quite frankly," said Justin Mulcahy, Anne Arundel County police.
In the video, you can hear spectators cheering and egging the drivers on and a police vehicle sitting idle as reckless drivers exited onto Ritchie Highway.
WJZ showed the videos to mall shoppers.
"It's scary to think people peeling out like that. They can hit somebody," said Kathy Gonzales.
"You look at some of the accidents that actually happen at race tracks and then all of a sudden, you see something like this where there is no barrier. That's kind of crazy," said Glenda Adams.
Police made five traffic stops during the incident. Others made it to Ritchie Highway and got away, putting other drivers in danger.
"Some of our officers are going to continue to follow up and identify who these drivers are and we're going to work with the mall and potentially ban them from the property," Mulcahy said.
Police say the Mega Meet Car Show was a sanctioned event.
