Police Search For Driver Responsible For Fatal Hit-And-Run
PARKVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- A 68-year-old woman is dead and police are asking for your help to find the driver who hit her and never stopped.
Derek Valcourt has more on the accident and search for a suspect.
Groceries sit on the side of Seven Courts Drive in Parkville, marking the spot where a hit-and-run driver struck and killed Beverly Moore Sunday night.
"I'm very angry about it," said Rose Stefan, a friend of Moore's.
It's a shock and a heartbreak to long-time friends.
"She was a good person," Stefan said.
Moore was carrying her groceries Sunday night as she walked home from the Weis Supermarket on Joppa Road. As one car stopped to allow her to cross the street, police say a second car, a light-colored 2005 to 2007 Ford 500 sedan, pulled around the first car to pass it, striking Moore and then speeding up.
"Hit them and just to keep going. I mean, there's no heart, there's no conscience, no nothing," Stefan said.
Police need help finding the driver.
"There would be damage to this vehicle to the right front bumper and possibly also to the hood and headlight," said Elise Armacost, Baltimore County Police.
Several neighbors complain about speeding traffic on Seven Courts Drive.
"The traffic's bad here," said one.
"It's bad enough you wouldn't want to cross. You'd have to really run across," said another.
Moore's friends want justice and want someone with information to come forward.
"Just have a heart and report these people or have some guts and turn yourself in," Stefan said.
Witnesses say the driver of that car was last seen turning westbound onto Joppa Road.
