Police Search For Armed Suspect Behind Sexual Assaults, Rape In West Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A sex assault suspect is on the loose. Baltimore City Police need your help identifying a man behind a string of sexual assaults and one rape.
Christie Ileto explains police fear he could strike again.
Baltimore City Police are spreading a flier Friday in hopes someone has spotted a man believed to be behind two violent sexual assaults and one rape in Southwest Baltimore.
"When the police gave us this sketch, we were like 'Well, we'd just seen this guy,'" said Aquai Jones, concerned resident.
The suspect's face is familiar to some in the neighborhood, where police say he's made his attacks over the last three weeks--all within a half mile radius of one another.
"This individual is dangerous and he does this in overnight hours, and he seems to be targeting women who are alone," said Lt. Ronda McCoy, Baltimore City Police.
Police say he pulls a gun on his victims before sexually assaulting them.
A woman who identified herself to WJZ as Heather says she's come face-to-face with the suspect.
Police have been handing out fliers with the suspect's picture to residents all day long, and they've even stopped at the Westside Shopping Center, where it's believed the suspect was spotted midday Friday.
"Everybody's been seeing him. He's walking,"Jones said.
"We've seen him just this morning," another concerned resident said.
Residents are on edge.
Police say the suspect's victims range from as young as 13 to late 30s.
"Yeah, that's pretty pathetic if he targeting a 13-year-old girl, something should be done," a man said.
Police continue patrolling neighborhoods, working to catch the man before he strikes again.
Police are warning women in that area not to be out by themselves.
