Police: Salesman's Jewelry Suitcase Stolen

WHEATON, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police are asking for the public's help tracking down the man who stole a suitcase carrying jewelry from a salesman's car while he sat in the driver's seat.

The 65-year-old jewelry salesman parked in the 1700 block of Gridley Lane in Wheaton on Wednesday evening. Before he got out, however, a man approached his car from the rear. Police say the man broke the rear driver's side window, reached inside and grabbed a suitcase with jewelry. The man then ran away.

Police did not disclose the value of the stolen jewelry.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for the theft.
