Police Review Recordings After Officers Use Pepper Spray
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Police say they are reviewing body camera footage and 911-call audio after officers used pepper spray to break up a University of Maryland graduation party.
University police said in a statement late Sunday that a 911 caller reported a fight and underage drinking at the party at on-campus apartments early Sunday.
Police say an officer's body camera recorded a conversation between officers and a group who said people were fighting and one person who reported seeing someone with a bat.
Police have said as officers tried to get people to leave, an officer surrounded in a hallway used pepper spray. Videos posted online show people screaming and coughing as they left the building. Authorities say pepper spray was used again during a parking lot confrontation. Two people were arrested.
