2 Abducted, Robbed At Gunpoint In Roland Park; Police Looking For Suspects
BALTIMORE (WJZ)— Two people in one of Baltimore's most prominent communities were abducted and robbed within minutes of each other. Now police are beefing up their presence in Roland Park. Meghan McCorkell has the latest on the investigation.
Extra patrols are in the Roland Park area as police follow up on what they call strong leads in this case.
"It's very worrisome. This is my neighborhood," said Barb Clapp.
It all started around 2 a.m. A 40-year-old woman getting out of her car on Upland Road was approached by three men with guns. They forced her into a car, drove her to an ATM, made her take out money and then left her on Roland Avenue. Minutes later, just down the street, the same suspects hit a bicyclist with their car, knocking him to the ground.
"They then went up to him with the guise of making sure that he was okay," said Anthony Guglielmi. "At that point, they forced him into their vehicle."
He was robbed, too, then released.
Neighbors like Kurt Overton are now being more vigilant about keeping an eye on who is in this community.
"We live in a city that unfortunately has a high crime rate and we choose to live here so we understand the risks," Overton said.
This isn't the first incident here in this community. Earlier this year, two women were robbed as they walked out of the Petit Louis Bistro. No arrests were made in that case.
"It's a little alarming to hear that such an event would happen right here," said Alice Simpkins.
Now police and neighbors are on the lookout to keep crime out of this community.
Police say they believe the three suspects were driving a silver four-door Dodge Stratus.
None of the victims that were robbed were injured.
