Police Officer Shoots Man In Leg
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police say an off-duty officer shot a man in the leg when he refused to obey commands.
It happened Wednesday about 1:30 a.m. in Rockville. A Maryland-National Capital Park Police officer had stopped a car for a traffic violation. He radioed for help, and one passenger fled.
Authorities say an off-duty Montgomery County police officer arrived and watched the two passengers of the vehicle. Police say a passenger left the car and reached for his waistband, and the officer gave commands that the man did not obey.
Police say the officer fired several shots, hitting the man in the leg. He was taken to a trauma center for non-life-threatening injuries.
