Police: Man Chokes Mother, Stabs Stepfather
BROOKLYN PARK, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County Police have charged a 25-year-old man with choking his mother and repeatedly stabbing his intervening step-father.
The family was asleep early Sunday when police say the man returned to his Brooklyn Park home intoxicated and grabbed a relative. In an argument with his 51-year-old mother, the man began choking and assaulting her.
The commotion woke the man's stepfather, who tried to stop the attack. That's when police say the man got a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his step-father repeatedly. A neighbor who tried to help was also assaulted.
The man is charged with attempted second-degree murder, several counts of assault, reckless endangerment, a fourth-degree sex offense and false imprisonment.
Police say the victims' injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
