Police: No Threat Found At Dorsey MARC Station

DORSEY, Md. (WJZ) -- Howard County police officials say no threat was found at the Dorsey MARC Station Tuesday morning, after a suspicious package was reported.

According to the State Fire Marshal's Office, the suspicious bag was found on a bench at the station in the 7100 block of Route 100 by a commuter. The commuter called 911 around 6:25 a.m.

Howard County police spoke to MTA staff and the station was evacuated.

A robot was used to determine that the bag wasn't a threat.

Bomb-sniffing dogs were also called to the scene.

Camden Line train service was suspended in both directions and delays were reported along Route 100. Washington Metro will honor MARC train tickets.

Police say that it was determined it wasn't a criminal act and the station has been reopened.

In a statement, MARC officials said, "The MTA regrets any inconvenience the morning delay in service may have caused our customers."

Service has since resumed and afternoon service should not be affected by the incident Tuesday morning.
