Murder Mystery: Woman Found Dead Inside Medical Center In Glen Burnie
GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ)—Murder mystery at a medical center. A homicide investigation is underway in Anne Arundel County after a woman's body is discovered.
Rochelle Ritchie has more on the investigation.
Anne Arundel County Police remain in the scene. They say it is evident from her injuries that she was murdered. They've identified the victim as 43-year-old Christie Lynn Pelland; they say she worked as a cleaner for Spiritual Cleaning and cleaned several offices in the building.
Crime scene tape surrounds the Medical Arts Centre of Glen Burnie after a woman is found brutally murdered inside one of the office suites.
"Based on the investigation at this point, our criminal investigation division has taken over. It's being investigated as a homicide. The female was found with trauma to the upper body," said Justin Mulcahy, Anne Arundel County Police.
Dr. Mahesh Ochaney runs his private practice inside the medical center. He says it seems unreal that it is now the scene of a homicide.
"I was devastated to hear that. I feel sorry for the person who was murdered," Ochaney said.
Police were called to the building just before 9 a.m. Monday. Other employees and patients were already inside with no idea a woman had been killed.
"They wouldn't tell us what was going on. They just told us it was an investigation," said Denise Hill, patient.
The building houses several small medical practices. Patients remained unaware of the horror until they showed up for their appointment.
"I never expected to find someone was murdered here," one man said.
"I just hope it was nobody that we knew," another man said.
Doctors say while they've always felt secure inside of the building, this murder makes them want to increase their security.
"I hope the police and the investigators find out who the person behind this is," Ochaney said.
Police are searching every inch in and around the medical complex for evidence that could lead to a killer.
"This scene is still being processed. Evidence is still being collected. We're asking anyone who heard or saw anything or has any additional information to come forward and contact us. We certainly want to hear from you," Mulcahy said.
Many questions remain. Police have not said what kind of weapon, if any, was used in her murder. They say there were obvious signs of upper body trauma.
The faculty remains closed. No suspects have been named.
