Police Look For Suspects Who Pepper Sprayed, Stripped & Robbed Man
BROOKLYN PARK, Md. (WJZ) -- A bizarre crime in Brooklyn Park Tuesday night. Police are searching for three men who used pepper spray to mug a man waiting at a bus stop.
Derek Valcourt has more on what happened next.
Not only was the victim pepper sprayed, police say the three suspects stripped him down and took his clothes.
The attack happened at a bus stop along Ritchie Highway just near Hammonds Lane, shortly before midnight. That's where a 25-year-old man told police he was approached by three large men in ski masks.
"One of the suspects asked him if he had any drugs. He replied he did not. At that juncture, that's when he was pepper sprayed. The two other suspects began to take things," said Justin Mulcahy, Anne Arundel County Police spokesperson.
Police said the suspects pulled off the victim's shirt, his shoes and his pants, which had his money and his cell phone in the pockets. The suspects then took off running across Ritchie Highway.
Police say after the attack, the victim---still suffering from the pepper spray in his eyes---came to a nearby neighborhood, knocking on doors asking for help. None of the neighbors we spoke with encountered him.
"No, and I sleep on the couch right beside the window," said Bobby Edwards.
People were unable to locate the suspects but say they're taking the victim's story seriously. The same can't be said about some neighbors.
"It sounds like a bunch of bull to me. It sure does," Edwards said.
Police say at this point, they're unsure if the victim was chosen at random or specifically targeted by his attackers.
Anyone with information on this case is urged to call Anne Arundel County Police.
