Police Investigate Sunday Morning Fatal Crash Near Hollins Market

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore Police are investigating a fatal crash near Hollins Market from Sunday morning.

It happened at 11:00 a.m. at the 1300 block of Hollins Street. Officers on the scene found Ricardo Cuoto, 44, from Odington, Maryland, who had been operating a 2001 Chrysler Town And Country, unconscious and unresponsive.

Cuoto was transported to Shock Trauma where he died a short time later.

Baltimore Police say Crash Team investigators arrived on the scene and assumed control of the investigation.

Officials say Cuoto was traveling east-bound in the 1300 block of Hollins Street when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a parked vehicle on the south side of the street.

That initial crash caused a chain reaction, where four additional vehicles were consequentially struck. Cuoto's vehicle came to a stop in the middle of the street.

No one was in any of the parked cars and no one else was injured.

Investigators believe speed played a factor in this crash. It also appears that Cuoto was not wearing a seat belt. An autopsy will be conducted to determine if alcohol or drugs were involved.

Anyone with information about this crash should call Crash Team investigators at (410) 396-2606.
