Police Investigate Wrong-Way Fatal Car Crash In Howard County
WEST FRIENDSHIP, Md. (WJZ)- Police are investigating a fatal car crash in Howard County.
It happened Friday morning in Howard County and resulted in the closure of westbound I-70 for approximately four hours.
Around 1:15 a.m., police say Taurence McDonald was driving a pickup truck in the wrong direction on westbound I-70 when he collided with Timothy Constantinides head-on in the fast lane.
Constantinides was pronounced dead at the scene. McDonald and his passenger refused medical treatment.
Police received information indicating that McDonald and a female passenger were heading to Catonsville after leaving a friend's house in Reisterstown. It is believed that McDonald became disoriented on his way home and turned around, heading east in the westbound lanes, resulting in the crash.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in this crash, but continue their investigation.
Criminal and traffic charges are pending.
