Police: Inmate Fired Gun In Police-Involved Shooting At St. Joseph Medical Center
TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) -- A police investigation shows the officer who was grazed from a bullet as she struggled with an inmate at St. Joseph Medical Center on Dec. 5 did not fire her weapon.
Police say inmate Brian Dargan fired the gun.
The 30-year-old inmate was taken from District Court to St. Joseph Medical Center for medical treatment after receiving a $25,000 bail for burglary charges.
While at the hospital, officer Rosa Park began struggling with Dargan as he attempted to get off the gurney. Police say Dargan went for the officer's weapon. The weapon fired once during the struggle, and then the gun jammed.
Dargan is now being charged with attempted first-degree murder and is held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
Officer Park is assigned to the Towson precinct. She has served with Baltimore County police for three years.
