Police, EMS Busy With Flood Rescues Around D.C.
ALDIE, Va. (AP) -- Emergency responders say they have been conducting water rescues throughout the night after a storm caused flash flooding throughout the area.
A flash flood warning was issued for much of the Washington area on Wednesday night and west of Interstate 95.
One man had to be rescued from the roof of his van in the Aldie area of Loudoun County. The driver had lost control of his vehicle and went into a ravine and was surrounded by water. He waited until sheriff's deputies arrived to help him out.
Strong winds had apparently blown down a sign declaring the road closed.
Water rescues were also reported in Montgomery County, Md.
