Police Chase That Started In Baltimore Co. Ends In The City
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A traffic stop for stolen tags ends in a dangerous police pursuit involving two local police departments.
Two suspects are now facing a long list of charges after a police pursuit through Baltimore County and Baltimore City Wednesday morning.
Officers say the pair damaged three police cars and nearly drove over officers during the ordeal.
Police are now digging into the suspects' history.
This police pursuit spanned two jurisdictions, coming to an end on at Greenspring and Cold Spring Ln. in north Baltimore, but police say these two may be responsible for even more crimes.
Chopper 13 was over the scene at an alley in north Baltimore as police slapped cuffs on two men who were suspected in a crime spree.
It all started when police spotted the pair at the Comfort Inn on Loch Raven Blvd. in a car with stolen tags.
Police say when they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver rammed a police car, then tried to drive over several officers.
The driver led police on an 8-mile pursuit around the Beltway and down 83, before the chase ended in north Baltimore.
"The vehicle came to a stop on its own on Cold Spring Ln., where the vehicle was not put in park," said Jennifer Peach, with the Baltimore County Police Department. "They just jumped out of the vehicle and began to flee on foot."
One neighbor told WJZ's Devin Bartolotta that she watched the car stop, roll backwards into two police cars, before the two suspects make a run for it.
That neighbor said she watched those too men run through a side yard and up to her locked back gate, with police not far behind.
Once the suspects got over the gate, police moved in.
Police say these two suspects may have ties to other crimes, adding to an already long list of possible charges.
"We're investigating further into these two subjects, and to potential crimes that they may have been involved in," Peach said. "So there could be any number of charges that follow depending on what we find."
Police are not releasing the names of the suspects or charges they are facing at this time as they investigate those possible other crimes.
No officers were hurt during this incident.
