Police: Man Pushes Wife, Strikes Parents With Metal Pipe Before Barricade & Suicide
BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)— Police say a man assaulted his estranged wife and his parents, barricaded himself in a home, and then shot and killed himself with a rifle.
Baltimore County officers responded to a home in the 4400-block of Mt. Carmel Road around 6:20 p.m. Monday for an unknown trouble call.
When they arrived, they discovered that Kris Abbott, 43, had assaulted his estranged wife, Dawn Abbott, and his parents, Russell and Virginia Abbott.
Police say Kris Abbott damaged a vehicle with a metal pipe, struck his parents with the same metal pipe and pushed his wife to the ground. Everyone but the suspect ran to a nearby home.
The suspect then barricaded himself inside a home with a rifle.
When tactical units and hostage negotiators responded to the scene and made entry, they found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The rifle was recovered on scene.
His 76-year-old mother was flown to Shock Trauma for treatment of serious injuries.
No one else was taken to the hospital for treatment.
