Police: Bald Eagle May Have Died After Being Electrocuted

SEVERNA PARK, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say they believe a bald eagle died in Severna Park after being electrocuted when it flew into a power line.

The Capital reports the eagle was discovered by locals on Thursday morning.

Spokeswoman for the Natural Resources Police Candy Thomson says the bird will be sent to National Eagle Repository so its feathers can be distributed to registered native tribes for ceremonies.

Baltimore Gas and Electric spokesman Justin Mulcahy says the company will investigate the matter and follow up if there are any additional steps they will need to take.

Thomson says it's not uncommon for authorities to get calls about injured or fallen eagles.
