Passenger Killed When Car Overturns On I-70
CLEAR SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a woman has died when a tire on the SUV she was riding in blew out, causing the vehicle to overturn on Interstate 70 in Washington County.
It happened about 2:05 p.m. Thursday in Clear Spring. Troopers say a SUV driven by Raymond Butts, 39, of Cumberland was traveling east partly on the shoulder when a tire blew out.
Police say the vehicle crossed the road, hit a guardrail and overturned. Troopers say a passenger in Butts' SUV, 50-year-old Brenda Dailey Adams of Cumberland, was ejected through the rear of the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Butts was taken to a Hagerstown hospital. The accident is under investigation.
